THE MEASURE OF SUCCESS

 

In times of frustration or games that chalk up in the "L" category, remember this, "To all who find themselves criticizing the teaching of your son or daughters team; There are always words and lessons learned in times of challenges and defeats, and it is no measure of success learned by the record of the teams wins or losses, on any given Friday or Saturday!"

"It is always much easier to criticize and coach from the sidelines or from the back of a group, but real Teachers, Coaches and Role Models for all of our children, are the people who unselfishly give their time and teaching to benefit the good of the youth, not from afar, but on the sidelines, in the huddles with our children, of the battles that we fight, in and during the games we play!

 ALWAYS STRIVE TO BE PART OF THE SOLUTION, NOT PART OF THE PROBLEM!

 

It shall be the purpose of the athletes of Young Tiger Football & Cheerleading to promote and uphold a positive attitude, and to develop good sportsmanship by example. To be champions off the field and support good relations with the community, between teams and squads during competition.  Alway's keeping in mind the Warsaw tradition of Son, Daughter, Student and Athlete, Forged by those who had come before.

 

 

 

Tiger Past, Present, and Future

 

Young Tiger Football was founded in 2002 by  Allan Ross, Mark  Stamper and

 Dave McCool.  They had a vision to create better youth competition and

 to help make better young men within the community of Warsaw, Indiana.

  

In 2002 Young Tiger Football consisted of one team with 26 kids (ages 8-12). They competed 

in the Noble County League. Young Tiger Football in 2003  joined the Marshall County Junior

Football League (MCJFL). The league is made up of nine communities: Warsaw,    

LaVille, Culver, Bourbon (Triton), John Glenn (Walkerton), Plymouth,  Tippecanoe Valley, Knox and just

this year, Wawasee joined the league.

  The league is divided into two divisions. A Bronco division (Ages 10-12) and a Pony

division  (Ages 8-10). In 2003 , Young Tiger Football gew to three teams. Two of them in

the Bronco division and one in the Pony division. Nearly 60 children participated that year.  

 

 In 2003 construction began at Richardson-Dubois Park to put in a

football field for Young Tigers to call home.            

                                 Other changes were coming as well. At the annual banquet, the

board announced that for the 2004 season they were hoping to add a Young Tiger Cheerleading program.

Lori Smith took on this task of organizing, coordinating, as well as coaching our future cheerleader's.

In the first year, 40 girls signed up to become a Young Tiger Cheerleader. 

  These young ladies added so much excitement to our program. What a bonus!  

 We also had over 100 boys in the program for a total of over 140 children participating in

Young Tigers. What an achievement for us to continue growing !

  

In October 2004 our home was completed, just missing our 2004 season.
















On October 17 the field was dedicated "Fribley Field" in the name of Lance. Cpl. David Fribley. 

David Fribley was a Warsaw Community High School  student, standout athlete and graduate. 

















Fribley was the first Hoosier Marine to be killed in Iraq.  He gave the ultimate

 sacrifice to his country and his community while serving in Iraq.

 There is a monument appropriately in honor of David Fribley.

 




















 In November 2004 the first game was played on Fribley Field.  It was an annual

game between Warsaw and Wabash ("W" game).  The game is played with

 6th graders from each community. The winner of this game is given a traveling "W" trophy.  









 

2005 proved to be another growing year for our Young Tiger youth program.

  The program was expanded from four to five teams.  We had over 120

boys now enrolled in the Young Tiger Football program and 50 girls in

Young Tiger Cheerleading.  We had a total of five teams competing in our travel league. 

In 2006, we continued to grow with over 230 children participating on 7 teams including the cheerleaders!

We expect our 2007 Young Tiger Football & Cheerleading to be the biggest group yet!!
